Special Presentation Nick Vedros and the Founding of The LUMI Neon Museum Nick Vedros, born in Kansas City, is the president and founder of The LUMI Neon Museum in Kansas City, which focuses on preserving and showcasing iconic vintage neon signs from the region. Vedros, an acclaimed commercial photographer, has had a career spanning over four decades, working with major brands like Apple, Sony, and Coca-Cola. His work has garnered international recognition, including being named one of the world's Top 200 Advertising Photographers. In 2017, Vedros shifted his focus towards creating the LUMI Neon Museum, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and restoring neon signs that are part of Kansas City's historical and cultural fabric. His passion for neon preservation was sparked by the rescue of a vintage Crick Camera sign, which led to the founding of the museum. The museum, which will open in 2025, will showcase more than 100 restored signs from local businesses and beyond. (Image: Nick Vedros with collection of small neon signs.
